Pottery painting
STEP 1: CHOOSE. Pick a piece of pottery, and choose your design and colors. We have hundreds of items available, from mugs & plates to boxes & banks, and a large variety of colors and glazes.

STEP 2: RELAX. We have lots of ideas and fun tools to help you, and someone is always available to give you advice!

STEP 3: CREATE. Go ahead and paint. We'll even teach you how if you haven't done this before. When you're finished, leave it for us to cover with a clear glaze and fire it in one of our on-site kilns.

STEP 4: ENJOY. After you have painted your items, they will be ready to pick up one week from the day they are painted. Plus, since the studio has store-front parking, picking up your item is easy!

Painting pottery at The Mud Room is simple. In fact, the hardest part is choosing what to do! That's why we have plenty of idea books and painted samples, fun tools like stamps and stencils, and most importantly a team of helpful, creative staff members to assist you. Check out our Gallery section to help make your choice easier.

Tips on caring for your piece: Most people have no problems after putting their pieces in the dishwasher or microwave. However, we recommend hand-washing and avoiding extreme temperatures to give your piece a long and happy life.

Painting your own pottery is safe for all ages at The Mud Room. Not only is each color non-toxic and lead-free, it is also water-soluble. That means its easy to clean up, won't stain your clothes, and you can even wipe mistakes off your piece!

Oh, and there are lots of places nearby to grab a bite to eat. You are more than welcome to bring any food or drink with you while you paint. You can even BYOB (if you're an adult, of course).

Due to quality issues, we are unable to accept pottery not purchased at our studio.
